555 TIMER BASED FLYBACK TRANSFORMER DRIVER
Entire driver assembled in case. I tried with secondary ground connected to primary ground and circuit went pop. What that means is that the mosfet is turned on by the timer, and current starts to flow through the primary winding. And my flyback contains a capacitor its a one problem or no. A gate charge of more than 20 volts or in some cases, 30 will kill the transistor instantly, and you want to avoid this. Are you still around or did you open a portal with this shit?

After you confirm that, compare how much does the voltage drop on your battery cells when you connect it back again.

Well and what did you expect from me to say …? Fyback timet are generally either driven in “flyback mode”, or some push-pull topology. Mosfet will not necessarily be destroyed if body diode is rated to take repeated avalanche. If not what is the function of this capacitor? I mean, this is quite a low-efficiency driver to waste a solid good IGBT on.

Now I remember about the limiting resistor. It means that you disconnect the primary connection from the supply that provides Vcc to the oscillator NE pin 8 and use a different supply for the primary coil, sharing the same ground with the supply that provides power to the NE I used a panel mount potentiometer in this case as I had no multiturn 47K pots in stock.
Winding your own Primary I recommend winding your own primary for several reasons. Do this by inserting a flathead screwdriver under the anode cap on the crt with a jumper connected to the “dag” ground. Make sure you use a mosfet and not a bipolar junction transistor, the symbol in the datasheet should resemble the one in the schematic.
The output voltage depends on the oscillator frequency set it to variable kHz for output voltage fine-tuningnumber of primary turns and on the resonant capacity. To allow higher voltage inputs and bigger power outputs, get a separate V DC supply a few watt transformer, e.
For general use, 3 to 10 turns should be right for this driver. Connect the ground to the steel spring that holds the two cores together, do not make a loop around the core. General Description and circuit operation This is an efficient flyback driver for modern cylindrical rectified television transforker. Also, I see five volts on your meters — not enough at all to drive the chip, lest the gate.
Actually, i try to make my self a monster flyback like yours but i can not, I just made the first one based on the transistor. Or shield the driving part well with aluminum e.
Sorry just curious, awesome project!
Hello,i am using one flyback dc of television this circuit is ok or not Thanks. Once I came into close flybback with an Ion Cord connected to ground, the voltage starts to drop and forms a small corona in a helium atmosphere. Pictures Sparks at 5v.
The chip was brand new. Flyback transformer and preparation Flybacks can be found in all types of monitors and screens that use a cathode ray tube CRTe. During my testing, the snubber was already there but I beleive you can bypass the snubber with low current testing. You might have fried it once more, check all connections, probable cold joints and try again. The voltage will rise up to the breakdown voltage of the mosfet, where it stops since the mosfet is avalanche rated this does no harm, and only produces heat in the mosfet.

I get that you take the primary off the original supply rail, but do you leave the other side connected to the circuit?
For a different frequency range you can use a timer calculator or just experiment to find new capacitor and resistor values. Do you know why? To get best power out I need to mod my driver to have Duty Cycle adjustment.
This is the only one among so many in the web that seems to me suitable for long time uses. Transforker did you test the circuit with?
