I’ve got it working ok but when I remove the drive I can still access it. I’ll have a look around and see if there are any cache settings.

Memory Problem with P5Q Turbo. I did a little more troubleshooting. Considering this is a bios specific to one mainboard I assumed he meant hard drive compatibility. L73 – Update Marvell Yukon to v6. Make sure AHCI is enabled for the SI controller, usually the problem is the other way around, when AHCI is enable on the sata controller the main hard drive shows up on the safely remove list. Check in the Bios to make sure the SI controller is enabled, and see if the the drive s is seen in the bios when hooked up to it. In fact, with just that drive connected Win8 would boot just fine. Do I have to wipe the resident after this? I discovered that I’d see the Violation screen at boot with either the 3-gig drive ahcu by itself, or with it disconnected and just the two turbl drives connected as a pair.
Each of them is independent of each other, and uses its own driver. Can you post a screenshot from the Disk Management and the “phantom” drive?
Maybe there is a way to add the srive to the safely remove hardware list.
