Each behaved slightly differently with regard to WSS resources and I only managed to get the YMF to behave consistently, but not without a struggle, and even then the mixer settings were so far out of whack that – as always – I yanked the card out and swore to never e1868 one again.

I believe it has more channels than the real thing, which the Windows MIDI driver can use for full 4-op sound. Any chance you could give it a go with SoftMPU?

I just download it today. Es18868 negative I found is that on all 3 cards the wavetable Stereo gets reversed. These cards are great for both windows and dos retro gaming. The useful item in the datasheet is that the reference circuit pretty closely matches including the IDE port the FX board.

There was a certain Soudn card I tried and didn’t like because it could only play a couple of sounds at a time, or would play the first half of a sound and cut off the rest.


What Tools or DOS software, to you use, to determine this? So 8-bit portion should work. I guess it really depends xound the card though, ESS being just the chip, so you’ll just have to try it and see how you get on.

The drivers from vogons are only needed for DOS operation. There is no material that is knowingly illegal here.

The DOS software — which can be found on Vogon Drivers — is bare bones but is easy to use and powerful.
